The translations in the other topic are wrong in many ways. I decided to correct them and post them here. Feel free to comment anything.

SORJA POIKA / Pretty boy

A pretty boy said he would be my sweetheart.
I thought he was joking, I pretended not to hear.

Tall and pretty is the girl's sweetheart, a tall and thin boy.
Even if he's not mine I'm going to try my luck.

The sweetheart is so pretty, he has curly hair.
He's been many times at the room's window.

The sweetheart says: I take you although you're not pretty.
Who would take the mean and poor ones anyway.

That's how it goes. The girl has to make love to the boy.
Breaking up the boy has to say he's sorry.

I'm good at singing and my sweetheart is good at drinking.
I'm good at singing and my sweetheart is good at drinking.

Hey you, quit your boozing, quit it.
Then your head won't ache and you won't always be hungover.

This girl won't take any boy,
who's always kissing a bottle.

Where they took my sweetheart, there are big seas.
There's nothing else, just he and the northern winds.

ITKU / WEEP

Like this the maiden used to sing, the maiden used to sing.
The red-cheeked girl used to complain and moan.
I'm terribly unhappy, poor misfortune.
Made to cry forever, to long forever.

The girls in the village get married.
The girls next-door.
Not me, never.
Poor me, never.

I wouldn't be any fence of brushwood, any bad bonfire.
I'd have pretty legs, I'd be pretty all day long.
Ten come to ask, six with "long shoes".
Going around manor houses, going around homes.

What might the men desire,
or the poor boys.
How might they see me,
seen me blacker than others,
and as a cheap thing, heinous they are.
and as a cheap thing, heinous they are.

TÄST' SE LÄHTI TOINEN TAHTI / HERE GOES THE SECOND BEAT

Here goes the 2nd beat, now we go for the 3rd.
I'm not going to fall in love with a stranger.

If I had a stone step I would step on it.
If I had a permanent sweetheart I would hug him.

In what land may the girl's sweetheart wander.
Who may get married with him.

Love is like a wire, sweetheart, don't cut it.
Don't tell me sad news.

My sweetheart left me, whatever, the Lord will take care of me.
There are lots of lads in the world, I make love to them.

I roll them like water with my voice.
I like good lads, the bad ones I pass on.

Good old people of the village, come and listen to my singing.
Don't go around the village calling for me.

VOT I KAALINA

They gave me a man.
He looks like a man.
Vot i kaalinna dai...

The man has no sense in his head.
The sense has been taken, the head has been left.

The brains have been picked from a branch.
[Kamara on kasvatettu].

I would have been worth a better man.

To be hugged by a prettier one.
To be kissed by a prettier one.

To stand next to a richer one.
To stand next to a lustier one.

ANKARALAISEN TURISTIN MAAHANPANOPOLKKA /
FUNERAL POLKA OF AN ANKARAN TURIST

So lousy are the boys of this village.
You wouldn't touch them with a hand, only with a stick.

I know I know, I can I can, the prices for the village girls.
The best boy costs a sheathful of glumes.

We won't come to this village, we'd rather climb up a tree.
Until the boys of this village have grown front teeth in their mouths.

A magpie is a pretty bird although it's a "rekkorinta".
A kopek is the highest price for the boys of this village.

Farewell, village boys, we are not interested.
We were just joking and we won't take you with us.

Away I go from this village, I won't turn back.
There's no friend left for me in this village.

Away I go from this village so that culvert bridges bang.
And the boys of this village will die in misery and pain.
