Kaiku (http://www.kaikumusic.com/) is a New York City-based group that play Finnish music. I haven't gotten the chance to hear them yet myself, but I'm on their mailing list, and their upcoming show is worth plugging here because it involves Jaska:
Spring Greetings from Kaiku!!!!
The last performance by Kaiku this spring is a unique one. We have
been working with three talented Finnish modern dancers who have
created a choreography to some of our music. This is the first time
we try something like this and we are very eager to see how it will
be received. The theme of the performance is "Many Faces Of A Finnish
Woman". The program will reflect the nature of a Nordic woman - her
myth, strength, sensitivity, humor, and nurturing quality. It will be
a special night and we can all mingle at a wine reception that will
follow the performance!?

| It was a nice show. Kaiku aren't quite on the same level as Värttinä, but they certainly aren't bad. Their sound on the whole is a bit mellower. At any rate, it's great to know that I can find some Finnish music here in New York. |
